Reduce your COGs and speed up your manufacturing time by eliminating the need for clips, screws and welds. Connective forming tools let you use your punch press to create fasteners right on the part. Tooling options range from hinge tools that allow you to directly manufacture a hinge into your part, to a lance and form tool paired with a rectangle hole to securely join two parts.

In the past, including a hinge in a metal product required several manufacturing steps. Wilson Tool hinge tools eliminate much of this labor intensive, time consuming process. Depending on your application, we offer a multi-hit hinge or a one-hit hinge.

MANUFACTURE THREADS WITHOUT EXTRA STEPS

When a threaded hole is needed, it is traditionally created outside of the punch press. This requires transportation of the part to a separate work area, as well as the need for another machine. Eliminate these costs and manufacture your threads in the punch press.

A coining tool is made to your exact specifications and produces an accurate, precise countersink in one stroke of the punch. No need to transport the part from the punch machine to a drill press to manufacture the countersink.

Thread Forms

Manufacture a thread form in the sheet by pre-punching a small round or keyhole shape, and then forming the material into a helix thread form. These forms can vary in size to accommodate small screws or large plastic threaded inserts found on some household appliances.

Sharp edges and burrs are common when sheet metal is cut or punched and often results in the need for a secondary application to remove. 3 Steps to Safe Edges

The Rollover, or Curling tool, can be used in many applications including hand holds, wire feeds and grommets. With three tools, you can create a smooth edge that doesn’t require grommets or inserts. Available in all punch tooling styles.

Accurately and efficiently de-burrs sharp edges on parts by coining a small chamfer on the cut edge of the part with a unique ball assembly, moving in straight lines or arcs — even acute angles and very small radii. Available in Thick and Trumpf-style tooling.

Eliminate the need for cumbersome jigs and fixtures, and make use of tools you already have on hand. Simple features, such as stops, bridges, louvers, or half shears, can be incorporated into parts to save time and money by reducing part handling in your shop.

Scratch Tool
The scratch tool is designed specifically for sheet stopping. It scrapes material into a stop on one side of the sheet, leaving no holes or marks on the other side. The stops are discreet and can be used as locators for angular shearing, shear stops, or spot welding locators. Available for the top or bottom of the sheet.

Bridge Lance & Form Tool
Bridge type lance and forms can be used to produce shear stops, locators and card guides. The straight edges of the bridge require fewer hits to hold the sheet in place, making them an extremely efficient sheet stopping solution. Wilson Tool’s design gives a positive form, which ensures a high-quality part, and its holder assembly design provides cost saving replaceable punch tips and ejectors.

Louver Tool
Commonly used to create louvers for airflow or ventilation applications, louver can easily be used to create stops. Like bridge forms, the straight edges of the louver work very well to hold the sheet in place with fewer hits. Wilson Tool’s louver tool has a universal holder design that makes it easy to replace the inserts to create different size louvers or even swap out other types of tooling.

Half Shear Tool
The Half Shear is an easy-to-use tool that allows you to put in shear buttons and spot-welding locators to the accuracy of your punch press. Round Half Shears make excellent locators for angular shearing and Rooftop Half Shears give you greater height protrusion from the metal which assists in picking up the locator on the sheet.
