Wilson Tool International, the largest independent manufacturer of punches, dies and accessories for tablet presses, punch presses and press brakes announced today the acquisition of the Tablet Press Tooling Division of Thomas Engineering Inc. of Hoffman Estates, Illinois, a manufacturer of machinery and tooling for pharmaceutical, nutraceutical and over-the-counter (OTC) tablet processing.

Over the years, Wilson Tool has grown and is now the world’s largest independent tooling provider in a variety of industries.  Thomas Engineering Inc. has also been rapidly growing its global market share as a provider of state-of-the-art tablet coating systems. This transition allows both companies to focus on their areas of expertise, with a goal of bringing even more advanced solutions to all of their customers.

Each with over 50 years of experience, Wilson Tool and Thomas Engineering Inc. promote high quality products, innovation and excellent customer service as their core values. Both companies prize lasting customer partnerships, offering training, specialized services and custom solutions to meet the specific needs of their customers.

With this acquisition, Wilson Tool is relocating all of the tablet press tooling manufacturing equipment, processes, materials and inventory from Thomas Engineering Inc. to the Wilson Tool International global headquarters in White Bear Lake, Minnesota. Already a manufacturer of punches, dies and accessories for the tablet compression industry, Wilson Tool will continue to produce and sell tablet press tooling from its Minnesota plant for worldwide distribution.

In alignment with its current business practice, Wilson Tool will provide new tablet tooling customers with a designated regional sales engineer, who will be available to provide assistance with tooling needs.

Wilson Tool International has hired a number of employees from the Tablet Press Tooling Division of Thomas Engineering Inc. in order to provide continuity to former Thomas Engineering Inc. tablet tooling customers. Thomas Engineering Inc. personnel bring decades of compression tooling industry know-how to the group, along with many long-term customer relationships.

Moving forward, Thomas Engineering Inc. plans to focus specifically on the tablet coating machinery side of their business, while Wilson Tool continues to expand their tooling, accessories, training and services for industries such as pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, confectionary, sheet metal fabrication and more.
