How to Control Part Distortion - Any stamping die designer will tell you that part distortion is one of the most challenging aspects of the job. Distortion is caused by many factors within a die, and can leave you with a part that doesn't meet your customer's product specifications. Distortion can be one of the most frustrating issues to deal with in the stamping world, but fortunately, there are things that can be done to minimize distortion and maintain product flatness. Specifically, we will look at aspects from insufficient cutting clearance, to shaving, to best practice in terms of stripper design.
